Each year the Hanover Rotary Club offers an opportunity for area high School students and their parents seeking information on post-graduation education and career choices to interact with College and University , and/or career representatives. Rotarians volunteer to assist with set-up and tear down responsibilities as well as guide guests to the information tables of their choice. This event is open to all area High School students and their families and is free of charge. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH THIS EVENT PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW. Join the American Red Cross to SOUND THE ALARM, a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event that will help save lives! Through a partnership with area fire departments, and with the support of local community groups, corporations, and organizations, the Red Cross identifies neighborhoods that experience a high rate of home fires, yet are less likely to have working smoke alarms. Working in teams, volunteers canvass the community, going door-to-door to discuss the importance of creating and practicing fire escape plans. They also offer to install free smoke alarms in any homes where working smoke alarms currently don't exist. Teams include: Smoke Alarm Installer, Disaster Safety Instructor, Reporter Volunteers and volunteer teams are needed for our next Sound The Alarm event - Won't You Join US? Stop by Ice Cream Ally's Coffee Cafe, 212 South Queen St, Littlestown, Pa on the following dates for soup, sandwich, and /or ice cream and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Polio Plus. All proceeds will then be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As a result, we might see an end to polio this year. Friends of Codorus State Park sponsor this event annually to celebrate Halloween . It is a fundraiser for their organization to benefit the Park. Rotary was asked to provide volunteers to collect money from those attending the event. Please consider volunteering your time to help another community organization raise money to support our local State Park. |

Ruth's Harvest Volunteer Opportunity We need Rotarians to volunteer. Rotary has committed to assisting with the packing meal bags on two dates - Thursday Jan 9 and Thursday February 13. You will be putting together meal bags for area school children to take home for the weekend. This process typically takes about an hour and begins at 6:00 pm. The location is the First United Methodist compus located on the corner of Locust and Middle Streets. There is parking in the back and the door to enter is also in the back and will be open.

CLUB GRANT FLOOR SCALE Our Club provided New Hope Ministries with a $5,000.00 floor scale and food container s through a Rotary Club Grant. The scale has been installed and is in use. As part of the Grant, Rotarians must participate in the project. Consequently we have scheduled TUESDAY JANUARY 21ST, 6:00-7:00PM as a time to meet at New Hope Ministries on Baltimore Street to help stock shelves and assist clients. Please mark your calendars.
