President Chris opened the meeting at 12;04 pm and also led us in the Pledge and Prayer.
 
ATTENDANCE : There were 27 Rotarians in virtual attendance by phone and/or visual means.  We had one guest, Kevin Clark, who is a prospective member.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS :
 
     Chris - We are in need of Pledge and Prayer volunteers.  Please contact Rick McKee to sign up for a date to lead us.
 
     Chris - We are in need of ideas for programs that you would like to hear for our meetings.  Please share any suggestions you have with Ellie Rebert or Ken Wenger.
 
     Kevin Clark - the YWCA is hosting a Women Against Domestic Violence Event 8/14/20.  Contact the YWCA or Kevin for more details.
 
     Craig Aiello - his achilles surgery went well.  He wanted everyone to know that he felt safe and taken care of at the hospital and he is appreciative for all they did.
 
     Mike Hockenberry -  I'm pleased to announce that the new UPMC OutPatient Center has opened in South Hanover as of 8-1-2020.  On the opening weekend, Express Care services were available, followed by other practices and ancillary services as of Monday 8-3-2020.  More info in a story below.
 
     Chris - Rick McKee's father-in-law passed away recently.  Condolences to Rick and his family.
 
PROGRAM - today's program was originally Paul Berg speaking about China, however there is a power outage at Paul's house this am and he is unable to present.  Instead, Chris asked the members to share their experiences in dealing with the Covid-19 Pandemic.  
Tammy Miller - had to make creative adjustments to provide services
John Danehy - 2 unexpected consequences - dining a-la-carte has increased greatly; membership has soared
Dale Brubaker - outdoor activities are doing well
Chris Helt - no in-person meetings for months, everything is virtual
Craig Aiello - requiring masks employees but the shop is not air conditioned so it is hard on employees.  Manufacturing has shifted from new equipment to parts and accessories
Chris Stock - they had everything in place to go virtual so it was a fairly easy transition.  Has had a few in-person meetings.
Bob Miller - Allied Honor Guard had been inactive but requests for funeral appearances is now active again.
Bob Miller - Foundation - after final tallies, Hanover ranked 2nd in per capita giving for the year in the District.  Mechanicsburg is in the top spot.
 
 
NEXT WEEK"S PROGRAM - York County Economic Alliance
