Today Rotary member Bob Miller provided the club with the annual Rotary Foundation updates:

  • 120 Years of Impact: The Rotary Foundation has invested over $4 billion in sustainable projects over its century-long history, supporting health, education, and poverty alleviation worldwide.
  • Mission-Driven: The foundation empowers Rotarians to advance global understanding, goodwill, and peace through various impactful initiatives.
  • Local Contributions: After three years, 50% of donations return to our district, supporting local projects through matching district grants. Our club has actively participated, contributing $95,000 to various matching grants, totaling over $600,000 with matches.
  • Support Opportunities: Members are encouraged to contribute to the foundation, with options to donate directly or through the club. Achieving a Paul Harris Fellowship is recognized for contributions of $1,000 or more.
  • Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Partnership: Rotary and the Gates Foundation have renewed their commitment to eradicating polio, pledging up to $450 million over the next three years. Rotary aims to raise $50 million annually, with each dollar matched by two additional dollars from the Gates Foundation.
  • Polio Eradication Efforts: Despite significant progress, polio remains a challenge in a few countries due to political and logistical barriers. Rotary continues its efforts to overcome these challenges and eradicate polio globally.
  • Rotary Club of Hanover Contributions: Our club has contributed over $832,000 to the Rotary Foundation over the years. This year, we aim again for 100% membership participation and $3.400 in club donations to The Rotary Foundation.
