Karl Pietrzak brings almost 30 years of experience in the tourism & hospitality industry to his
role at Destination Gettysburg. He spent the last 16 years with VisitPITTSBURGH, where he
served most recently as Vice President of Convention Sales since 2012, leading a team of
seasoned sales professionals in attracting meetings, conventions and group tour visitors to
Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Previously, Karl worked in sales management positions with
the Hilton Pittsburgh, Westin Cincinnati and Westin William Penn hotels.
A native of Gettysburg, PA, Karl is a graduate of Delone Catholic High School and earned a B.S.
in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management from the Pennsylvania State University. Karl is
a 2018 graduate of the Leadership Pittsburgh Program, earned the Certified Destination
Marketing Executive (CDME) credential from Destinations International in 2014, and the
Certified Sales Association Executive (CASE) designation from the Professional Conference
Management Association in 2001. Karl has been a member of several industry, travel and
meeting-related organizations, boards, committees and task forces.
