2025 Gettysburg Festival of Races
Apr. 27, 2025 7:45 a.m. - 11:15 p.m.

Time: 7:45 am – 11:30 am
Location: Aid Station #1 (Chapel Road by the intersection with Marsh Creek Road)
Parking: Park on the grass off the side of the roadway.
Duties: When you arrive, there will be tables, cases of water, a Gatorade cooler, packages of Gatorade, cups,
a mixing spoon for the Gatorade, trash collection bins, and trash can liners. Some of your supplies will be inside the
Gatorade Cooler. Set up two tables and assemble trash collection bins (placing trash bags inside bins when
assembled) on the route 15 side of the road as the runners will travel against traffic. Fill one table with water cups
and the other with cups of Gatorade (as the runners approach, water should be first and Gatorade second).
Gatorade goes into green Gatorade cups and water goes into plain paper cups. Fill cups approximately half way (do
not fill all the way up). Filling cups quickly will be important. Make sure you collapse water jugs to minimize the
space they take up and keep them separate from the regular trash as we will recycle them. When the table with
Gatorade is full, mix enough water and Gatorade powder so that the 10-gallon cooler is full and replenish cups if
needed. As the runners approach, hold cups out for them and shout clearly if you are holding water or Gatorade. As
you get breaks in the runners or after the last runner has passed, collect the cups in trash containers or bags. There
may be runners moving slower than the allotted time for the race. You should begin cleanup by the closing time
listed above. As part of your cleanup, please use extra water to rinse off the table and also rinse out the Gatorade
cooler (we sometimes can’t get to cleaning those for days and mold can grow pretty quickly if there is residual
Gatorade in the cooler or on the tables). Feel free to take any leftover Gatorade powder and/or water jugs with you
as it is impossible for us to store it properly for a year and struggle to give it away after the event.
Nearest Toilet: There will be two portable toilets on site.
Notes: The runners will be heavily packed when they pass you starting around 8:07 am so get ready for a big
push but they will all be past by 8:20 am and most probably won’t take fluids unless it is hot. The marathon runners
will come past you a second time starting around 9:25 am and there will be a lot fewer on the second lap with no half
marathon runners.
