Hi Hanover Rotarian, the Board approved the service project providing support for parking cars during the Hanover Little Theater’s 2022 Season. The season began Sept. 9, 2022 and runs through June 18, 2023. This project has a very limited time commitment that is spread over 9 months. We will provide two volunteers as Parking Attendants for each show. You can reach me with any questions. Shanna Hollich, 717-778-8373. The theater will be offering the Hanover Club $400.00 ($100.00 for each show) for supporting the theater with this project.

Penn's Youth Initiative, Inc.

Bio: Cindy is the Program Director for Penn's Youth Initiative, Inc., serving schools and youth organizations with programming that underscores individual worth, relationship fundamentals and smart decision-making skills. PYI engages 5th-12th graders with fun, age-appropriate classroom presentations throughout Franklin, Adams, and York Counties. Funded by available grants, generous partners, and business sponsorships, PYI offers this dynamic program free of charge to partnering organizations. (To review positive impact data, details on the evidence-based curriculum and testimonials please visit www.pennsyouth.org). In 2019 Cindy was elected to serve on the Upper Adams School Board. She also travels internationally, teaching and speaking on healthy relationships. (Her soft spot is working with orphaned youth.) She is a published author and a former columnist for the Gettysburg Times. Cindy and her husband, Hank, have been residents of Adams County for over 30 years. Their three children are graduates of Biglerville High School. |

Introduction + Hanover Borough Update

On December 19, 2022 the Borough of Hanover welcomed Margie Lewis as Borough Manager. Lewis, a native of Lakewood, Ohio, however, raised in York County, has spent her career in government service, locally with York County Parks and Manheim Township, Lancaster County and regionally as a civilian with the Army Corps of Engineers. She most recently served as Executive Director of Recreation, District #1 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana where her role included oversight of district-owned water, sewer, and roadway systems, as well as personnel and facility management and recreation programming. Lewis earned her Bachelor of Science degree from York College and her Master of Science degree from Clemson University. In addition to municipal leadership, Lewis recently served as President of the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (2020–2022), as well as committee roles in the National Recreation and Park Association. In her role as Borough Manager, Lewis will oversee the administration of all municipal departments of the Borough of Hanover except for the police department and will provide a central point of accountability for the administration of Borough government while serving as a central point of contact to help Hanover citizens participate in local government. |

DUI Issues in PA

Jim French began his law enforcement career in February of 1993 with the West Fairview Borough Police department and the Mid Cumberland Valley Regional Police Department in Shippensburg, Pa. He later served as a Cumberland County Detective, and a member of the Drug Strike Taskforce, and later with the Baltimore County Police Department. After his retirement in 2018, French worked for the Carroll Township Police Department in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. In 2022, French joined the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department with the enforcement of impaired drivers as well as conducting impaired driver training to the SCCRPD and surrounding jurisdictions. French is currently a full-time member of the Pennsylvania DUI Association, as the Region 1 DUI Program Administrator. His spare time is spent with his family. His hobbies include leatherwork, riding horses, and participating in Revolutionary War Reenactments. |

The Importance of Posture with Aging

Katie Karnas has been a physical therapist for 8 years. She joined the Phoenix Physical Therapy team in 2018 as clinic director and lead physical therapist for Phoenix’s outpatient physical therapy facility in Harrisburg, PA. She was an integral part of the overall development and growth of that facility. She now has taken on the same role in the Hanover clinic, where she continues to facilitate development and growth of Phoenix Physical Therapy in order to help bring quality physical therapy care to the region. She has completed extensive post-graduate training and has recently become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and takes a very hands-on & functional approach with her patients. She resides in Hanover with her fiancé, Ben, and their cat, Toby. |

Give Local York 2023 Results

Meagan Given is the Executive Director of the White Rose Leadership Institute which has created and facilitated the Give Local York one day giving event in York County for 6 straight years. Kate Harman is the Give Day Coordinator for the event. Every year this 24 hour Giving Day held the 1st Thursday and Friday in May raises millions of dollars to benefit hundreds of nonprofits in the York Community. |
