Rotarian's Daughter gives back with friends for 14th birthday following the devastating Nepal earthquake.

After earthquakes devastated Nepal in April and May, Ann Marie, daughter of Rotarian Danielle Suppa, decided to do something to help the people suffering in the aftermath.  She invited a group of friends to her 14th birthday and asked them to make donations to the people of Nepal instead of bringing gifts.  She and her friends were able to make a donation of $300 through the Rotary Club of Hanover to the Nepal D3292 to be used for disaster relief.  On Tuesday, August 25th, Bill Harkey visited Hanover from the Carlisle Club to present a khata to Ann Marie on behalf of the Nepal Rotary Club to thank her for her kindness.  A khata is a traditional ceremonial scarf in Tibetan Buddhism.  It symbolizes purity, goodwill, auspiciousness and compassion.  It is usually made of white silk symbolizing the pure heart of the giver.  The Rotary Club of Hanover would also like to recognize Ann Marie’s selfless act and ‘Service Above Self’.  She will make a fantastic Rotarian in the future.
